The aim of this work is to search for improvements in the production process of the ABNT 1045 stainless steel hot tournament, under four temperature conditions, through the Failure Mode Analysis Method and its Effects (FMEA). A methodology of the experiments used external sources of heat, where the samples are heated in an electric oven and then inserted into the lathe in May, 2017 in the laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering course. The temperature of the pieces was maintained through two ceramic infrared electrical resistors, which are fitted into a bracket and properly fastened around the non-lathe piece. In this way the FMEA is necessary to identify potential failures, since manufacturing processes have vast applications in the manufacture of parts and machines. By applying the FMEA checklist, to the hot-turning products, failures and possible preventions were identified, and the results obtained show an improvement in three of the five main parameters adopted, namely temperature measurement equipment, sample handling and obtaining the results of the experiment.
