Objective: Describe the knowledge of health course faculty members about self-care in breast cancer prevention. Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, conducted with 37 faculty members of higher education courses in health sciences at a university center in the interior of Pernambuco. Data collection was performed during the period from November 2019 to February 2020, using a structured and validated questionnaire. The descriptive analysis was performed by checking the frequency of responses. Results: The teachers’ knowledge was more frequently classified as “Insufficient” when applying the data collection instrument. Conclusion: It is important to develop health education actions to increase and improve the knowledge about breast cancer and its prevention methods, using strategies to strengthen the self-care and autonomy of the teachers.
