The hairs on the flowers and perifloral leaves of 25 representatives of the genus Verbascum L. were examined. Thirteen morphological types of hairs were identified. The calyx and perifloral leaves possess the most morphologically diversified hairs while the stamens usually " have only one type of hairs. Clavate and headed hairs are typical of the studied species. It has been found that the structure of hairs can serve to distinguish taxa of various ranks among the genus Verbascum. The structure of the hairs of V. roripifolium and V. capitis-viridis suggests that both of these species be set apart from the genus Verbascum.
