[Objective] Pantograph malfunctions can result in the loss of train traction capability, significantly impacting the normal operation of train. To address uneven carbon slide wear of two pantographs on the same vehicle of a train, a control scheme for active selection of dual-pantograph based on TCMS (train control and management system) is proposed. [Method] The current state of dual-pantograph control technology in urban rail transit is introduced, the reasons for pantograph carbon slide wear are analyzed, and the principles and pantograph control process in the dual-pantograph active selection control scheme based on TCMS are presented. [Result & Conclusion] Utilizing a carbon slide wear algorithm, the proposed pantograph active control scheme can comprehensively calculate the thermal and mechanical wear degree of carbon slides, automatically assess the wear degrees of two pantograph carbon slides on the same vehicle in real-time, and ultimately enables the train to automatically select the pantograph with less carbon slide wear. Through the logical judgment and execution of the proposed pantograph active selection control scheme, the intelligence degree of pantograph control is enhanced, synchronizing the replacement cycles of carbon slides on both pantographs and reducing the pantograph maintenance costs.
