Processus de qualification et structuration des filières agro-alimentaires : quels impacts sur le développement rural en Amérique latine ?

Abstract

Latin America produces and exports fair trade and organic labelled food products. The acknowledgement of such quality characteristics by the consumer is the basis of her “willingness to pay” on the market for the environmental or social assets linked to these labels. This paper assesses the importance and the structure of this sector and its relationship to exports markets. It then contemplates the contribution of these devices to rural development.
