Study Skills Inventory: Attitude/Balance
Abstract
Abstract Oftentimes, first-year medical students are surprised by the vast amount of work they must organize, digest, and categorize intellectually as the basis of knowledge for patient management. Students who are having difficulty need to assess their study skills and quickly make changes that will allow them to manage their time and studies in positive ways. This resource, an inventory of various study skills, will hopefully aid the students in becoming lifelong learners. This inventory is very effective in helping students focus on finding their performance difficulties, especially those related to attitude and balance. It also helps them establish a plan of action to address problems. Students will find that certain behaviors and attitudes are detrimental to their overall performance in the first and second years; this inventory is helpful in identifying these behaviors and attitudes and in setting students on a new, more positive path.
