"Effect of types of ground tyre rubbers on viscoelasticity of styrene-butadiene rubber composites filled with ground tyre rubbers"
Abstract
Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) viscoelastic composites were prepared by filling SBR with different types of ground tyre rubbers, and the effects of different types of ground tyre rubbers on curing characteristics, physical and mechanical properties, compression set, compressive stress relaxation and its reversible recovery, Payne effect, dynamic mechanical properties, Mullins effect, and microscopic morphology of the composites were investigated. The results showed that the composite filled with tire side rubber powder prepared by ultra-high pressure water jet method exhibited better physical and mechanical properties, and dynamic mechanical properties; the composite filled with latex powder had very short scorch time and optimum curing time, low stress relaxation, strong Payne effect, the poor compatibility with SBR matrix, and its Mullins effect strengthened first and then weakened with the increase in temperature, while the Mullins effect of composite filled with tread rubber powder prepared by ultra-high pressure water jet showed an overall decreasing trend with the increase in temperature; when the temperature was below 80 ℃, compression set of SBR composite filled with ethylene-propylene-diene monomer powder was less than that of the composites filled with the other types of ground tyre rubbers.
