The research contemplates the reading of different contemporary cultural products destined for children. It is an offshoot of issues highlighted because of the language hybridization processes. Among the actions of this research is the analysis of children's magazines, aiming the identification and characterization of verbal and visual appeals employed in its constitution and that involve the reader. The descriptive and analytical study investigates how language, culture and vision of childhood constitute and are constituted by the covers of the magazines Recreio, Ciência hoje das crianças and Turma da Mônica. The choice of these periodicals is a result of researches carried out previously, which showed that these are the most readed magazines among students from schools located in Caxias do Sul (RS).
