The Teaching of History and Politics in the USA: Experience, Tendencies, Perspectives (As Illustrated by Hamline University, Saint Paul)
Abstract
The article deals with the studying, analysis, and generalization of the history and politics teaching system at modern local US universities, role and place of the present day Academic Exchange Programs as well in visiting professor’s supply for the sprawling of lecturing and scientific base. Hamline University (Saint Paul) has been taken as an illustration, where the author has undertaken the lecturing and scientific work as a Fulbright visiting Professor in 2017 – 2018. It was proved that US local universities are interested in visiting professor’s/lecturer’s engagement for teaching the subjects and lecturing courses as well which, while not traditionally offered by typical American university nevertheless are acute, currently important, and interesting for both students and faculty members as well as for the local community. Due to the fact it is almost impossible for US local higher educational institutions to invite the said professors by their own cost, the best option for the solution of the given problem is the usage of different Academic Exchange Programs and grants, among which the Fulbright Program is at the head of the table.
