Synthesis of selenated γ-lactones via Oxone-promoted selenylation and cyclization of alkenoic acids with diselenides

Abstract

This study describes electrophilic selenylation and ring closure of alkenoic acids using an environmentally benign approach with Oxone as an oxidant under an air atmosphere. The present method affords an efficient and practical approach to obtain selenated γ-lactones in moderate to high yields.
