This teaching case simulates the actual decisions needed to evaluate the value of a company. Willian Palmer, a fictitious character, hires consultants to decide if it would be more advantageous to be a partner or shareholder of CEMIG, which is one of the leading companies in Brazil's electricity sector. Through the real economic and financial information disclosed by CEMIG and the real assumptions collected in several databases, the case addresses the steps required to calculate the value of CEMIG's share. It is considered that this case provides subsidies for undergraduate and graduate students to evaluate the value of the share found by the consultants and discuss the calculation of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC), the determination of premises, the methodologies chosen for the calculation of the cost of capital, as well as the projection of future cash flows of the entities and the calculation of company values, through multiples.
