The article deals with issues related to the organizational and managerial activities of the architect of an investment and construction project during architectural production. The problem of the success of the project does not fit within the narrow professional competence of the architect; nor is it limited to the exercise of individual abilities (intelligence, creativity, education) in the creative process of developing an architectural solution that meets the circumstances and conditions existing in relation to the object designed. Practical actions are needed to organize the architectural design process aimed at delivering the project, and these should be timely and reasonable in the current design situation. This makes it necessary for the architect to perform the functions of an architectural project manager. The specific features of the architectural management process are noted. The aspects of the role reflecting the architect's relations with specialists and project participants are outlined. The importance of the organizational and managerial activity of the architect in relation to the effectiveness of the architectural design process is emphasized. Studying issues related to the management of architectural projects is important from the point of view of the organization of professional training of architects.
