The aim of this study is to determine the principal characteristics of the discursive genre of web portal. Moreover, our proposal is to identify the essential linguistic mechanisms used to promote Spain as a tourist destination, through the application of quantitative and qualitative techniques of analysis to a corpus of 661 promotional documents extracted from the web portal www.spain.info
