The article shows a research achieved from the João Penteado’s heap organization, a collection of unpublished documents sources produced in the educational institutions, directed by the anarchist educator, João Penteado, in the period of 1912 to 1961, and between them we have the no.1 Modern School. The trace of these sources came across the building of an analytical inventory, and it was seen as a facilitated instrument of the pedagogical use of the school file in teaching and researching and, while an instrument of formal classification, it was also favored of the localization of new sources to the education history. The text presents double prospect: to give an account of the pedagogical dimension of the institutional sources, as well as to indicate its relevance to of historical research, and, in private, the history of work relation and education in the Brazilian society.
