The e-learning emerge in a context of educational systems expansion, of crisis of critical and radical thought, and the advent of so-called information society. This article seeks to reflect the challenge of rebuilding a critical sociology of education that embraces this new educational modality. Through a review literature only initial, especially Derouet, Wolton and Mattelard, we build a theoretical framework that is complemented with a questioning of the distance education scenario in our country. It is concluded the need for an interdisciplinary analysis of distance education and the importance of not fetishize nor presentiality or virtuality as instruments of educational transformation.
