Digital emancipatory practices as ‘protest by doing’
Abstract
“Socializing knowledge, without creating powers” is the opening statement of the manifesto of a collective of technology experts (‘radical techies’), henceforth called Prometheus, which provides activists with email accounts, list-serves and web hosting. Since 2001, many of the demonstrations and political actions of contemporary grassroots social movements have been made possible by these tools which enabled coordination and networking amongst groups.
