Introduction: student scientific research and publication have contributed a great deal to the knowledge of science. Objective: to describe the scientific production of foreign authorship published in three Cuban student scientific journals from January 2020 to September 2021. Method: observational, descriptive, bibliometric study of articles with foreign authorship published in the student scientific journals Universidad Médica Pinareña, 2 de Diciembre and 16 de Abril between January 2020 and September 2021. The sample consisted of 27 articles. Descriptive statistics was used and Price index was calculated. Results: articles with foreign authorship constituted 9,37 % of the published scientific production (6,25 % in Universidad Médica Pinareña). Articles with 2 and 3 authors predominated (29,62 %), as well as authors from Peru (42,85 %). Letters to the editor/director predominated (44,44 %); the mean number of references was 10,48, mostly in English (81,97 %). The Price index was between 0 and 0,88. The predominant thematic axis was COVID-19 (29,62 %). Conclusions: there is a growing foreign presence in the articles published in the journals: Universidad Médica Pinareña and Revista 16 de Abril, mainly centered in the first one. Multiple authorships were identified as a culture in foreign authors, who mainly came from Peru and Colombia and showed letters to the editor and originals as main contributions. The consultation of updated documentation was confirmed, as well as in English, through the analysis of bibliographic references.
