Memory of elderly people

Abstract

This work aims to examine the social imaginary of elderly people in the city of São Caetano do Sul on lightning. The research attempts to point out beliefs and values on lightning which are part of the memory of the group, since the city has considerable incidence of it. This allows us to understand the representations of the social group facing that atmospheric phenomenon. Even though, nowadays, the common sense and technical scientifi c discourse are considered to be two disaggregated universes, we intent to analyze sociologically how both co-exist in that group, through the study about imaginary.
