Fundamental insights into propane aromatization: Understanding the essential principles
Abstract
This article explores the catalytic reaction mechanisms of propane aromatization using catalysts containing 2% Zr, 2% Zn, and 7% Mo supported on mesoporous silica (MPS). Prior to catalytic testing, the samples underwent hydrogen treatment at a flow rate of 2500 h⁻¹ for two hours. The experiments were conducted at a consistent volumetric velocity of 500 h⁻¹, employing a standardized methodology. The study evaluates key parameters of the propane aromatization process on the 2%Zr-2%Zn-7%Mo/MPS catalyst, with and without hydrogen pre-treatment, as well as on a catalyst with a 5% Zr concentration prepared through impregnation. The findings offer insights into the catalytic behaviour and effectiveness of the propane aromatization process on these specific catalyst formulations.
