Simple and one-pot multicomponent benzothiazole-based reaction: Synthesis of novel spiro compounds with 1,3-dicarbonyl skeleton

In this work, a new series of 1,2-diphenyl-3aH-spiro[benzo[d]pyrrolo[2,1-b]thaizol-3,5ʹ-pyrimidine (4) or 3,2ʹ-indendion (6) derivatives were efficiently designed and prepared using a novel and easy route in excellent yields by multicomponent-reactions between benzothiazoles, 2-chloro-2-phenylacetophenone, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. These reactions were carried out in CH2Cl2 at ambient temperature under catalyst-free conditions for 3 h. The structure all of the synthesized compounds were established by NMR, IR, EI-MS and elemental analyses.
