The PNV, a benchmark party for Basque nationalism, presents a series of distinctive features, including a deep-rooted use of historical interpretations. This persistent attention to History, which is an intrinsic part of its ideology and the one it draws from, continued during the current democratic system around the memory of the traumatic events of the 1930s, the dictatorial past and the process of transition to democracy, after Franco’s death. The analysis of the parliamentary interventions of its deputies in the Congress of Deputies shows that this memory was used frequently but that it was not uniform in time but that its use presents oscillations not only in frequency but also in intentionality.
