Abstract
Looking closely to Bozcaada architectural characteristics, it is possible to see Turkish and Rum influence. For instance, the houses in Alaybey neighborhood have the architectural characteristics of the former, while the ones in Cumhuriyet neighborhood have the architectural characteristics of the latter. Social and religious buildings are distributed according to neighborhoods’ socio-cultural structure; churches or chapels are located in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood, mosques, fountains, namazgah are located in Alaybey district. Traditional Bozcaada Houses, which are mostly timber frame structures made of local materials, obtain the functions in harmony with the surrounded nature. This thesis aims to prevent Traditional Bozcaada Houses from being demolished through investigating their plan schemes, facade characteristics, structural techniques, and materials.
