Trauma and Translation in Contemporary Latin American Narrative. Introduction

Abstract

This introduction presents the articles included in the dossier. Using specific methodological paradigms (Psychoanalysis, Trauma Studies, Digital Humanities, Translation Studies), each article addresses the complex and little studied connection between trauma and translation as it appears in a corpus of contemporary narrative texts by writers of Latin American origin. The introduction also contextualises the topic. It provides a review of various conceptualisations of the notion of “trauma” in different fields of knowledge, relating these to the link between trauma and translation in the narratives under analysis.
