The numbers of permanent pacemaker implantation have been steadily increasing all over the world. In the VVI mode, the pacemaker battery on an average lasts for about 7–12 years. Pacemakers with the battery lasting for >25 years are rarely described. We present here a patient with VVI pacemaker who did not require a pulse generator replacement for >28.1 years. We believe that this is the longest lasting VVI pacemaker on the Indian subcontinent.
