The effects of the electoral campaign on the vote in 2014 european elections in Spain
Abstract
The European elections of May 2014, although considered by reference literature as second order elections, have opened important questions for the future of the Spanish political system and its configuration in subsequent elections of different level. Both the invasion force of a new political party, Podemos, and how it has used the media to carry its campaign, have set new paths and have changed the dynamics that have hitherto been out the traditional political forces. There are different patterns in the way that different voters participate in the election campaign and the influence that it has on them when making their decision to vote; and further, what is the current impact of the campaign and its various elements on the decision of the citizens who have supported different parties.
