Quito, patrimoine culturel de l’humanité ou ville du Buen Vivir ?
Abstract
This paper explores the evolution and modes of urban gouvernance concerning heritage and culture in Quito under the mandate of Mayor Augusto Barrera (2009-2014), who promoted the construction of the city of «Buen Vivir», in line with the national «Citizen Revolution». The aim is to study how the stakeholders from the cultural and heritage fields in Quito have managed to integrate the paradigm of «Buen Vivir» as it has marked a turning point in traditional practices. The article will also analyse the difficulties and the contradictions facing these policies, reflected in the difficult balance between the two urban stories produced by the city as «World Cultural Heritage» and the city of «Buen Vivir».
