In 2015, the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development was adopted, in which the member States of the United Nations committed to play their roles in favor of the economy, environment and society. Based on this commitment, numerous financial institutions have proposed to finance the transition to a more sustainable economy, among them, the Development Banks. In Brazil, the challenging macroeconomic scenario of the last decade led the Minas Gerais Development Bank (BDMG) to strengthen its sustainable portfolio through financing with multilateral organizations. Currently, BDMG’s vision is to be a world reference for a local Development Bank focused on impact. The impacts of multilateral contracts on sustainable economic development in Minas Gerais using the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals as a parameter began to be measured and reveal significant transformations in the state’s productive structure. This paper aims to analyze the strategic reorientation of BDMG based on the spread of the precepts of the UN 2030 Agenda and the first impacts observed in the economic and social relations of the state of Minas Gerais from data extracted from the financial statements and reports made available by BDMG.
