Complex Assessment of the Student's Activities in the Higher Education System for IT-Courses
Abstract
Progress of Internet technologies leads to the informatization of society, and as a result, changes in the education system. The younger generation is mobile, independent, has well-developed computer skills. Unlimited access to information has led to such a side effect as a decrease of student's activity in obtaining new knowledge. The education system has faced with the need of responding to these changes and changing the forms of obtaining new knowledge. In this direction, the authors of the article propose an approach to the educational process and a methodology for assessing students' activities, which, together with the use of modern approaches to the presentation of educational materials, can become the basis for coping with the digitalization of education. A complex assessment of the student's activity in the learning process include computer testing, as the main tool for the control assessment of knowledge, and a system for assessing and registering the student's achievements (activities). Registration of activities and informing students is carried out with the use of modern services, communication tools, cloud technologies. Main goal is not only registration of students’ achievements, but to provide the opportunity for students to manage their own rating by performing certain activities. These create a system for stimulating students’ progress and improve the learning process. The involving of the testing system together with the activity accounting system makes it possible to make the process of obtaining an assessment by a student more transparent and objective. To automate the knowledge control process using testing, the article proposes the principles of forming tests taking into account the complexity of questions, the method of calculating the results within the complexity of individual questions, and the test as a whole, based on the difficulty factors of the questions. In the conditions of full-time and remote forms of education, the developed approaches can form a real motivation for obtaining high-quality knowledge and formation of the necessary competencies of an IT specialist. By our opinion, the proposed approaches can be applied into any other specialties with adjusting the peculiarities of student’s future field of activity.
