A monk which celebrates, prays, teaches, corrects. The poetry of St. Peter Damian
Abstract
To speak of St. Peter Damian's poetry is not easy, there are many literary genres, different contexts, among which the liturgy stands out, but there are also lyrics related to monastic life, and to the controversial ills' corrections of the Church of his time, such as simony and nicolaism. The complete edition published in 2007, that is the result of a long process of critical and theological research, wants to be a new way of approaching the poetry of the saint, trying to underline the sources, the occasion for the composition and finally to provide an additional seat contribution to approach ever more fully to his great personality.
