Synthesis and ordered aggregation of 1-vinylimidazole bromide ionic liquid
Abstract
In order to study the aggregation behavior and thermodynamic mechanism of ionic liquid in solution, the 1-vinyl-3-tetradecylimidazole bromide ([C14VIM+][Br-]) functionalized ionic liquid with aggregation behavior was synthesized by a one-step method. With water, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and toluene as solvents, nine self-assembly systems with different polarities were designed. Under certain conditions and solution systems, [C14VIM+][Br-] ordered aggregates with different morphologies such as spherical, clustered, petal-like and bamboo-leaf-like shapes were obtained for the first time. Studies on the aggregation behavior of [C14VIM+][Br-] in different solution systems show that [C14VIM+][Br-] in a pure solvent system, the critical aggregation concentration (CAC) and counter-ion binding degree (β) of the system increase with temperature, and the movement ability of ions is enhanced.[C14VIM+][Br-] in a binary mixed solvent system, the CAC value of the system decreases with temperature, and the β value increases with the polarity reduction, which is conducive to the formation of large aggregates.
