The article presents a historical analysis of cinemas and changes in their planning structure using Moscow and St. Petersburg as examples. Changes in planning requirements are reviewed in connection with the development of motion picture technologies. Modern trends in cinema planning are identified. Examples of cinema building spatial planning, both historical and modern, are considered.
