Abstract
The author introduces five portraits of women who illustrate various types and migratory logics that are analyzed by the concepts of globalization, world system, migratory system, super diversity, "eurostars and eurocities", empowerment. She questions these concepts through the post communist migration experiences. The article polemizes with the mainstream of gender studies which conceptualizes women in terms of discrimination, vulnerability, inequalities, leaving little theoretical space to opportunities, (re) construction of oneself, empowerment.
