Experiments were carried out on a long-term permanent field experiment site of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops Novi Sad located in Srbobran during the period of 1996-1999 on chalcerous chernozem soil type. The influence of increasing nitrogen (N) fertilization rates (untreated control; 40 kg N ha-1; 80 kg N ha-1 and 120 kg N ha-1) on yield of six maize inbred lines (L1-L6) belonging to different maturity groups (L1-FAO 300, L2-FAO 400, L3-FAO 400, L4-FAO 600, L5-FAO 600 and L6-FAO 600) was studied. The increasing N fertilization rates showed significant positive effect on grain yield of corn inbred lines studied. The yield depended on inbred line as well as on the year of study. On average, for all four years and all maize inbred lines studied, grain yield increase as compared to untreated control was 13.7 % for 40 kg N ha-1, 18.7 % for 80 kg N ha-1 and 23.6 % when 120 kg N ha-1 was applied. .
