Contemporary approach in treating people with intellectual disability is aimed at the development and implementation of methodological procedures, which should provide them with academic knowledge and skills, as well as with the development of adaptive skills. The development of these skills improves functional usage of the acquired academic knowledge in everyday life. This paper presents some methodological procedures which are applied in stimulating the development of certain conceptual and social skills in children and youth with intellectual disabilities. By analyzing the available studies, it can be concluded that the usage of new technological achievements improves standard behavioral procedures for the development of conceptual and social skills in people with intellectual disability. Simultaneous application of behavioral procedures and assistive technologies allows a high degree of individualization, fast and continuous feedback, saving resources and time, as well as optimal functional preparedness of these people to live in a community.
