Les mutations algorithmiques des politiques culturelles : critique de la percée de la catégorie de « découvrabilité »
Abstract
This article analyses the recent emergence of the category of “discoverability” in several reports emanating from Francophone institutions. While cultural streaming platforms such as Netflix or Spotify dominate the digital distribution of audiovisual or musical productions, these institutions use this category to highlight the risks that these platforms’ recommendation algorithms pose for the possible invisibilization of French-speaking cultural content. Based on scientific literature and official reports, it studies the issues related to this theme of “discoverability” by comparing them to the evolution of the category of “diversity” in the propositions for cultural policy emanating from national and supranational institutions since the 1970s.
