Because of the influence of underground empty hole, ground subsidence in Songxinzhuang coalmine happered. To research the empty hole distribution around the main inclined shaft, the ground penetrating radar was used to detect the roof, floor and lateral of the main inclined shaft.Under the effect of human noise and shaft supporting material, ground penetrating radar images contained interference information, which can be removed by the bidimensional empirical mode decomposition algorithm. After the comparison with drilling holes, the results obtained from ground penetrating radar images were consistent with the underground situation, and also consistent with the geological data.
