IMPLEMENTOS DE MOLIENDA DEL CAÑÓN DE BOLAÑOS: UNA PROPUESTA (Grinding Implements from the Bolaños Canyon: A Proposal)

Abstract

En la cultura Bolaños se descubrieron artefactos de molienda que fueron empleados no solo para moler granos comestibles sino, además, para moler pigmentos vegetales y minerales utilizados principalmente en la decoración de objetos hechos en barro tales como la cerámica y las figurillas. Los integrantes de esta cultura aprovecharon su entorno natural (suelo de origen volcánico) para la manufactura de este tipo de herramientas con el propósito de ahorrar trabajo y, a su vez, obtener la máxima eficacia en el desempeño de sus funciones. ENGLISH: Groundstone tools of the Bolaños culture were used not only to grind edible grains, but also for vegetable and mineral pigments, which were mainly used in the decoration of clay objects like pottery and figurines. The members of this culture took advantage of their natural environment (soil of volcanic origin) in the creation of this type of tool in order to expend less effort and, at the same time, obtain maximum efficiency in the performance of tool functions.
