“That’s NOT how it is in my family!”: Children Develop Intercultural Understandings of Themselves and Others

This vignette describes the teaching methods used to help children think of what makes them unique cultural beings. Through the creation of text sets of global children's literature, they are able to focus on families, the self, and how children demonstrate their intercultural understandings through their experiences with critically reading and discussing the literature used in the classroom.
