Multiway Bandpass Power Divider Design With Flexible Filter Order
Abstract
This paper proposes an innovative design method for multiway filtering power dividers (PDs) that is both simple and allows for the filter order to be flexibly adjusted, effectively overcoming the limitations of earlier approaches. The method employs the common resonator technique to integrate bandpass filters for different channels, achieving circuit miniaturization. Additionally, by distributing the higher-order resonant frequencies of the resonators, the design ensures spurious-free performance. To validate the feasibility of this approach, a four-way filtering PD with a fifth-order bandpass response and an eight-way filtering PD with a third-order bandpass response were designed and implemented. Electromagnetic simulations and experimental data were highly consistent with each other. In summary, the proposed filtering PD design offers several key advantages, including a flexible filter order design, support for multiway power division, a compact circuit size ( $0.28\lambda _{g}^{2}$ ), high port-to-port isolation (>20 dB within the passband), spurious-free performance, and a simple design and layout.
