The aim of this study is to understand the factors that lead to the process of innovation in software development. The investigative locus is a local production hub of information and communications technology called Porto Digital, which is made up of software development companies located in the city of Recife, Pernambuco. The study, which is descriptive and qualitative, obtained data through semi-structured interviews and analyzed it with content analysis techniques aided by Nvivo software. The link-up of entrepreneurs through the business network enables the development of innovative products and services as a result of the exchange of information and knowledge between teams from different companies. The culture of innovation and the relational skills of the entrepreneurs are also responsible for making the hub stand out competitively. Internal factors of organizations are controllable forces essential for consolidating these companies in business networks and for the development of shared innovations.
