Received: October 06, 2018 Approved: October 30, 2018 Philosophers and scientists have approached science and research according to their style of thought, expressed in a set of convictions developed in depth in the framework of science, research and scientific knowledge, in this sense, the perception of science will correspond to such thought styles; and these to the epistemological approaches. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the influence of the philosophical currents of ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary thought; in epistemic approaches or traditional and emerging research paradigms, and these in turn in the development of the research processes of our scientific context. Within the methodological framework, we have used documentary research of an interpretative and descriptive nature, using as an analysis method, discourse analysis, which allowed us to establish some conclusions within the framework of the research being, between these; There is an influence and correlation between the philosophical currents of ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary thought, and epistemic approaches or traditional and emerging research paradigms, likewise, these in the development of the investigative processes of our scientific context
