Men versus Wild : masculinités survivalistes

Abstract

Prepping is a particularly Masculinist subculture that envisions the coming end of civilization as we know it. Historically close to the far right, preppers – those who actively prepare for the collapse – are increasingly numerous today as the threats associated with the environmental crisis are growing. This movement promotes a worldview centered on the individual and his or her “natural” resources in a post-apocalyptic world where the regulation of violence no longer applies. In this future state of nature, women will be the first victims, as preppers repeatedly predict on their YouTube channels. However, more and more women preppers are joining this community where they try to provide a female perspective on the collapse.
