Many IoT (Internet of Things) sensors are simple and cost-effective, allowing for area coverage or multi-channel configurations through self-addressing methods. In a multi-channel network, numerous sensor nodes monitor system parameters and autonomously organize themselves for specific tasks. To maintain a low-cost and low-power profile, the network architecture needs a resource-efficient self-addressing method to enhance overall performance and reliability. By using single-channel analog measurement and signal conditioning in the sensor hardware, an address value can be algorithmically determined based on the sensor’s network position. Simulations were conducted, topology comparisons, and hardware implementation was achieved in order to find an optimal, resource-effective self-addressing determination method.
