Objective. Objectives. To research whether the telephones and Smartphones are present in works of art, and to link these findings from the Information Science. Method. Documentary and field studies. In the documentary research, the databases were consulted: LISA, LISTA, Web of Science, Scopus and Scholar Google. For the field research, 289 museums, art galleries and cultural centers in Spain, France and, mainly, Mexico City were visited in the period 2011-April 2021. Results. 19 works by 15 artists were located and analyzed, of which 8 are paintings, 8 drawings, 2 photos and 1 installation, Claire Becker's piece is the oldest, dating from 2007, while the most recent work is Mayra León, made in 2021. Both, the telephone and the Smartphone are found in works of art as image and as object art. Conclusions. The telephone and the Smartphone are elements that are inserted in the Information and Communication Technologies due to their penetration into everyday life. These objects are included in works of art, either as an image or an object. As objects and images, because of their use, and because they are carriers of data and information, they are perfectly embedded in the phenomenology of Information Science.
