This article describes a clinical case of fatal polymicrobial pneumonia in a patient with progressive pulmonary tuberculosis. The clinical case represents a co-infection with tuberculosis, viral and pneumocystis infection in a HIV-uninfected patient with the long-term immune deficiency state. The pathogenesis, potential interactions and effects of concurrent infections on immunity are also considered.
