Magnets — Aggressive and Dangerous Foreign Bodies of the Digestive Tract in Children
Abstract
Foreign bodies of the digestive tract in children are common. Each year children swallow more 100,000 foreign bodies. In recent years the list of species added. Particular attention should be paid to such aggressive foreign bodies as magnets. The authors describe the magnets as a special kind of aggressive foreign bodies of the digestive tract, which if swallowed can cause dangerous complications: intestinal obstruction, perforation of a hollow organ, peritonitis. Expectant management of dynamic monitoring of passage of swallowed magnetic balls along the gastrointestinal tract can lead to dangerous complications.
