The planning of learning situations requires an understanding of theories that provide guidance to make the student experience more enjoyable and efficient. These principles were used for the reformulation of an undergraduate course offered at a Brazilian public university. The effectiveness of this planning was measured in terms of student satisfaction and learning assessment. In general the students were satisfied with the strategies and means of teaching used. Significant positive correlation between the quality of the work and activities delivered by the students of the discipline and the end result was detected. The Spearman test also showed that the higher was the percentage of podcasts listened and video classes watched best were the test scores and final grade. These data demonstrate the importance of proper planning of teaching in order to accommodate the needs of undergraduate healthcare students.
