Many critics of Šantić's literary work have emphasized the social and patriotic elements in his poems. The aim of this paper is to view and analyze these elements from the political theory perspective. In this sense, the basic research issue of the paper is whether we can recognize the elements of great political ideologies in the poems of Aleksa Šantic, starting from the definitions and characteristics given by Andrew Heywood in the book Political Ideologies. The work assumes that elements of two great ideologies can be recognized in Šantić's poems: socialism and nationalism. However, we believe that the elements of socialism in his works are based more on the Christian worldview than on Marxist literature, and that nationalism is understood more inclusively claiming the idea that so-called "our" nation can include Muslims too. The study uses discourse analysis and content analysis.
