AN ELASTIC STRESS ANALYSIS FOR A METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE BEAM OF ARBITRARY ORIENTATION SUPPORTED FROM TWO ENDS ACTED UPON WITH A FORCE AT THE MID POINT
Abstract
In this study, an elastic stress analysis is presented for a metal matrix composite beam of arbitrary orientation supported from two ends acted upon with a force at the mid point. A composite consisting of stainless-steel reinforced aluminium is used for this work. Yield points are calculated for 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° orientation angles. The Tsai-Hill theory is used as a yield criterion. ?x and xy ? elastic stresses is obtained according to the x coordinates of the beam.
