This article aims to show that theoretical development of the theme of the body in Freud's work is done from an appreciation of the body as a fragment focusing on the regime of parciality. The fragment is regarded as one approach to build the erogenous body, from the notions of erogenous zone, perverse polymorphic sexuality and organ pleasure. A historic perspective is presented concerning bodily dismemberment and the changes in point of view about the body in the fields of science and art that raised the worth of the fragment. Dissection of corpses gave bodies visibility and made them subjects of observation and research. A demonstration is given that bodily constitution in Freud follows, on the one hand, from clinical anatomy, though, on the other hand, it subverts that field by reinstating into the body in pieces the aspects of desire and pleasure.
